Pierre Le Cerf - Awards
Pierre Le Cerf is a multi-medal-winning French climber.
He has won the French Youth Champion title three times (2015, 2018 and 2019), and has also scored several victories in the European Youth Cup.
In 2022, he climbed Eagle-4, his first 9b. He now has more than a dozen routes in the 9th degree!

His projects
"I'd love to take part in World Cups abroad (America, Asia). I think it forges a lifetime to live this kind of experience! In competition, that would be it!
On the crag: do as many routes as I can in the ninth degree as long as I'm fit enough! And of course, do it all over the world. You just need the time and the means! And then, if I'm not in good shape, I'll just do some magnificent routes with a team I love!"

Climbing as seen by Pierre :
How did your passion for climbing come about?
"Climbing came up with my sister: she tried it out, liked it, and the following year I tried it out and loved it! And like any 6-7 year old, a sport where the possibilities are endless, where you use every part of your body and in a place where there are lots of colors, well you can't help but love it!"
What's your favorite climbing spot?
"Hmmmmm... the base of the bases is "spilled" next to Nice!!! And "Big Ben" for the incredible view and the memories! Le sud c'est oufissime pour les spot!"
What do you think makes a perfect climbing day?
"The perfect day is: doing my physical training solo (1-2h) in the early afternoon (let's say, at complete random, suspension on aYY Vertical hangboard ), and finishing with friends outdoors or indoors, with no goal, just good climbing!
But a good day's climbing is best done with friends. Time just flies, it's magical..."
Apart from climbing, what are your passions or hobbies?
"No time to have another passion (ahah) but later I'd like to get back into tennis and surfing. I think my only passion apart from climbing is eating (Oops!). I'm not working at the moment, but I love my job as a nurse. The only problem is that what I love is people. I don't like bandages, I don't like injections and I don't like people who go into cardiac arrest without warning."
Do you have a ritual before lacing up on a complicated/competitive route?
"Thinking about life. It may sound a bit "too much" to say this, but I tell myself that with or without this passage, life goes on. Think about the next good time, the next meal... but not too much! If the competition is in front of a lot of people, I tell myself it's just magic to do it! Not everyone gets the chance to do something in front of so many people. So if you're anxious... it couldn't be more normal, so go for it, it'll be fun to talk about!"
What are your future plans in the climbing world?
"I'd love to take part in World Cups abroad (America, Asia). I think it forges a lifetime to live this kind of experience! In competition, that would be it!
On the crag: do as many routes as I can in the ninth degree as long as I'm fit enough! And
of course, do it all over the world. All you need is the time and the means!
And then, if I'm not in shape enough, I'll just have to do some magnificent routes with a team I love!
And finally, I'd love to go abroad for 2 months to climb, meet new people,
learn about their way of training and climbing, and see another culture! It's a project that
I have in mind!"
What does the phrase "live your sport better" mean to you?
""Live your sport better" is an interesting and atypical phrase, because you can go off in all
directions depending on your character and your vision. For me, it's about making the little things that are complicated easier and better, saving time on the little things that are wasted here and there, improving comfort, making everything more pleasant, in short, making sure that just a little something extra makes all the difference to a session such as warm-up, re-education, training, well-being and so on!"
His trademark
The climbing sock! While most pro climbers decide to go sockless, Pierre keeps them on his feet and puts them on full display!

Flash questions
Slab or cant?
"I'm demanding, but the in-between! Hehe from 20-25-30-35 degrees I like it a lot!"
Block or track?
"I think block, but let's say 55% block and 45% Diff :) So not a big difference either!"
Lolotte or no-foot?
"Lolotte!!! I have a loose elbow haha. No, more seriously, I love this kind of movement immensely. With my small size it helps. Incredible invention!!!"
Heel or tailstock?
"I say against pointe. The last two times I pulled on a strong heel, I hit a posterior cruciate ligament and an external ligament. Enough to make you think twice before putting one back on haha!"
What's your climbing superpower?
"I can climb with socks on!"
