Penta Evo installation: 4 essential nodes

1. Hanging the Penta Evo

Preparing the cord ring: the double fisherman's knot

Objective: Create a strong loop to hang your Penta Evo.

Equipment: 60cm cord (supplied with Penta Evo)

Key steps :

  1. Pass the cord through the Penta Evo ring to form a single strand.
  2. Join the two strands in opposite directions and make two successive turns around the strands (first and second turns).
  3. Insert the end inside the two loops thus formed.
  4. Gradually tighten each of the two turns, taking care to leave 5 cm of slack on each strand before final tightening.
  5. Repeat the operation on the other side to obtain a perfectly symmetrical double fisherman's knot.

Pro tip: always leave a small "arm" of slack (5-7 cm) to allow easy intervention for adjustment or regular checks.

Once your double angler is in place, simply hook a karabiner through the cord ring: you've got a suspension point for your pulls and suspensions.

2. Use Penta Evo as a gym ring

Lengthening the suspension: the figure-eight knot

Objective: Adjust the length (up to 2 m) to turn your Penta Evo into a gym ring.

Equipment: 200cm cord (supplied with Penta Evo)

Key steps :

  1. Form a loop by folding the cord and passing the free end behind it to form the shaft of the 8.
  2. Pass the free end back through the initial loop, so that the shape of an 8 is clearly visible.
  3. Make sure there's 20 cm of slack between the end of the rope and the start of figure 8, before moving on to the next step.
  4. Pass the slack through the suspension ring (the loop from the double fisherman's knot).
  5. Close the knot in reverse order, then tighten each strand gently, one by one, until the shape is clean and solid.
  6. Check that at least 3 to 4 cm of slack remains for easy visual inspection.

Fixing at height: the clove hitch

Objective: Quickly and finely adjust height on a carabiner (or other support).

Equipment: Free end of rope, carabiner (not supplied).

Key steps :

  1. Clip the rope into the carabiner on the finger side.
  2. Catch the rope behind with the opposite hand and form a loop.
  3. Twist the loop to create a loop around the carabiner, then push the loop back inside the carabiner.
  4. Adjust the height by pulling the loop (to give slack) or the supporting strand (to tighten).
  5. Secure with a single stopper knot just above the capstan to ensure it doesn't slip.

Securing the assembly: simple overhand knot

Purpose: to prevent accidental capstan slippage.

Equipment: The same cord.

Key steps :

  1. Make a half-turn around the capstan strand.
  2. Pass the free end through the loop.
  3. Tighten by pulling simultaneously on the free end and the main strand.
  4. Check that at least 3 cm of slack remains for easy visual inspection.

Conclusion and best practices

With these 4 steps, you should obtain :

  1. A suspension ring with a double fisherman's knot

  2. A 2 m extension in an 8" knot

  3. A capstan on the snap hook

  4. A simple locking knot to secure it all

With these 4 nodes, you have everything you need to set up and adjust your Penta Evo apparatus safely and with the flexibility of real gymnastic equipment. Now it's time for pull-ups, cross-ups and dips: have a good workout!
